Hiroshima

Here is my newest assignment! I really really enjoyed doing this. It is a piece about the bombing of Hiroshima. I drew one of the bombs, "Big Boy", using a medium called clayboard and ink. I basically would apply the black ink, and then scratch away the black with an exacto knife.

Greeting Card

This project was a lot of fun to do. There's not much to explain about it.. as it is pretty self explanatory. The balloons are colored with Crayola Slick Stix, which are pretty fun to use actually!

More Art!

For this assignment, we were given the song "Houses in these Fields" by John Gorka and asked to represent this song through an illustration. Here is the illustration (colored pencil), followed by the lyrics.

They're growing houses in the fields between the towns
And the Starlight drive-in movie's closing down
The road is gone to the way it was before
And the spaces won't be spaces anymore

Two more farms were broken by the drought
First the Wagners now the Fullers pulling out
Developers paid better than the corn
But this was not the place where they were born

There's houses in the fields
No prayers for steady rain this year
Houses in the fields
There's houses in the fields
And the last few farms are growing out of here

At first he wouldn't sell and then he would
Now they'll be children playing where the silo stood
The word came from the marrow of his bones
It was the last sure way to pay off all the loans

The new streets will be named for kings and queens
And a ransom will be payed for every castle's dream
The model sign is crested with a lion
And the farmers they will have enough to die on

There's houses in the fields
No prayers for steady rain this year
Houses in the fields
There's houses in the fields
And the last few farms are growing out of here

I guess no one should be afraid of change
But tell me why is there a fence for every open range
It's a sign I'm getting on in years
When nothing new is welcome to these eyes and ears

There's houses in the fields
No prayers for steady rain this year
Houses in the fields
There's houses in the fields
And the last few farms are growing out of here

They're growing houses in te fields between the towns
And the Starlight drive-in movie's closing down
The road is gone to the way it was before
And the spaces won't be spaces anymore
And the spaces won't be spaces anymore

Art Work from Last Semester

I know a good amount of you have been asking for it.. so here it is.

These are a few of my art projects that I worked on last semester. There will be more to come soon I'm sure (once I can find them. haha) but for now here's a few of them.

For this assignment, we had to take pictures of the alphabet, using a centralized theme in each shot. I chose to do this based on a park or playground. (If you've never tried this before.. do. It was a lot of fun!)

In this assignment, I was asked to represent a time in my live that was meaningful to me. I was only allowed to use these words in this order.. no images allowed. I chose to use my car accident for this project, using the broken glass from the window as letters.

This was one of my favorites. We had to go out and find a restaurant that we thought could use a revamp in their menu. Although their menu isn't bad right now.. it was cluttered and hard to read. This is my front page of the menu I designed and their new logo.

Miracle Camp. Yeah Yeah!

Hey all! As a lot of you may know.. I've been going up to Miracle Camp for the past few weekends.. helping out volunteering at the Ice Camps as well as filming a few camp testimonies. It's been awesome to see how God has used camp as a tool in changing lives in past campers, now turned counselors and camp aides. I know for me even camp has had a huge influence on my life.. I've been going to Miracle Camp for who knows how many years now.. This includes attending Ice Camps, Summer Camp, Camp Aiding, Staff, and Family Camp.

If you don't know much about family camp, it's just a great weekend getaway to spend time with the family and grow spiritually as well as strengthen your family as a whole. Check out this sweet Family Camp in Michigan by clicking on the link!

Other than being an amazing Family Camp in Michigan, it's also a great way to spend a summer either attending for a week or being a camp aide of even a part of staff! Go check them out!

New Post?!

Yes. I am indeed back on the blog. I've got a lot to cover.. so I should be on here for a while! (I hope..) J-Term break has been amazing!

Apart from spending time with the family, Mackenzie, and friends, I've been busy with other things such as helping out at Miracle Camp (Yeah YEAH!), filming interviews about MC, and watching a
lot of Netflix. For those of you unfamiliar to Netflix, if you're in college.. get it! So far I've watched the whole LOST series, countless movies, and have recently started watching Psych. If you want a good way to waste your time.. Netflix is your answer.

Hopefully I'll be back on here soon.
