Simple Tool

Here is another project that I just finished. Again, I received one of the top amount of votes, which was really cool to see! In this project we were supposed to find a simple object and show in 6 steps how to use it. They are all 8.5" x 11" in size and cut out white paper and put it on top of black. My next project assigned is to create a pop-up with letters of our name, which should be pretty difficult but fun. Can't wait to see you all over spring break! I take off tomorrow afternoon (3/24) and will be home till the 5th.

Signs Assignment

This was my most recent art project. Our assignment was to make signs that could be visible from a distance and are easy to understand. The following are represented respectively: (try to guess what they are before reading the titles!)

Firing Range, Botanical Gardens, Fish Hatchery, Berry Farm, Indian Village, Middle-Class Neighborhood, Graceland, Prison, Nuclear Testing Area, Upland, Fault Line, and No Help for 100 Miles.

During our classes we critique and vote for our favorites for the whole 2 hours. Mine got 11 votes which was again near the top if not first. After class, my professor came up to me with a "Hey, good job man!" That was just really encouraging to hear from him! I am really enjoying this class.

I also recently found out that I will be doing video this summer for Miracle Camp where I pretty much shoot video the whole week, then put it together on a DVD at the end of the week! I'm really excited for this.. and I know I have the experience from doing the Wisconsin videos ;)

Figure/Ground.

I figure I'll just keep posting photos of my artwork..This first one is a snail. Our assignment was to create negative shapes (negative meaning the empty, white space) using black paper.

The second one is cake.

The third is SUPPOSED to be summer, although the waves look sharp and choppy, almost resembling winter.

For those of you who didn't know already, I'm coming back home this Thursday night for a Rascal Flatts concert in Peoria! I'll be home then the rest of the weekend, leaving Sunday afternoon.

2nd Round of Art Projects.

Here are just a few more art projects that I have been working on recently. The formation of the boxes are meant to show certain emotions or feelings.. what do they make you feel?

Last Wednesday I also had my interview for Miracle Camp. I think it went pretty good, but I guess only time will tell.. I find out the beginning week of March!

First Project in Visual Communications..

Here's an update on what I've been up to this week with school. This was my first project for Visual Communication.
Assigned: 2/2.
Due: 2/4.
So ya.. I've been busy.
The three sides represent different personalities of my life. The cross in the middle represents my faith and how it is the core of my being. The first side represents my more shy side, the second is meant to seem more friendly, and the third is representative of my fun side. It does take a while to figure these things out.. but I got a pretty good review :)

JTerm Update!

Getting used to JTerm life has been really different than the schedule of a normal semester. My average day goes something like this..

-Wake up at 7:10
-Shower
-Go to breakfast
-Go to class at 8
-Finish at 10 on chapel days (10:30 on Tuesday and Thursday)
-Go to lunch oh chapel days (Go back to the room and make raman Tues./Thurs.)
-Read most of the afternoon
(maybe throw in some video games or a movie during that time..)
-Dinner lately has consisted of EasyMac or Raman noodles, it's been too cold/I've been to lazy/most people don't go to dinner anyways. During that time I'm usually reading some more of the Tanakh (our version of the Old Testament we're reading, closest to the original Hebrew)
-Hang out at night till I go to be around 12.

As of right now I still have 300 pages to read by tomorrow morning, so that's pretty much all I'll be doing for the next 4 - 5 hours today. I have to finish Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the 12 minor prophets. Although it's great that I'm reading this and I'm enjoying it, it's really hard to get a lot out of the books when I'm in a rush just to read through and don't really have time to intensely study each Chapter like I would like.

All in all this is a great class though and JTerm is going great!

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!

J-TERM

If waking up at 7 am everyday wasn't bad enough I have my first test this Wednesday and have to have the Torah (the first five books of the Old Testament) read by then. As of right now I'm halfway through Exodus. The class itself is going to be a lot of fun! I love the teacher so far and the class looks interesting, it's just going to be a LOT of work!

Christmas break was AMAZING! I can't go into detail about everything that happened.. but it was really great to be home. I'm definitely missing it right now.. but it is good to be back at school as well.. the room feels a little more lonely seeing as I'm the only one living in it right now, as Matt is still in Hawaii. But that just gives me a better area for studying.

I have a German calendar sitting in front of me with a phrase of the day (thanks Mackenzie for trying to teach me) ;) but the phrase today is Haben Sie schon gehört?. "Did you hear?" I don't know what that has to do with anything.. but thought I'd share. haha :)
